2024 Beijing Auto Show： BYD Qin L DM-i unveiled.

At this year’s auto show, Qin L DM-i, which has received much attention, was officially unveiled. The new car adopts BYD’s new hybrid platform and will be equipped with the fifth-generation DM-i hybrid technology.

In terms of appearance, Qin L DM-i still continues BYD’s family-style "dragon face" design, but the oversized air intake grille is different from previous models. The rear of the car is designed with a small slip back, and with the "Chinese knot" taillight, the visual impact is very strong. The length, width and height of the new car are 4830/1900/1495mm and the wheelbase is 2790mm respectively. According to the official introduction, Qin L DM-i locates the mid-level car.

In terms of interior, Qin L DM-i adopts the design concept of landscape painting cockpit, which is more concise and atmospheric than BYD Han’s interior. The full LCD instrument panel is located behind the center console panel, with a brand-new three-spoke steering wheel, and the visual effect is excellent.

According to the official disclosure, its starting price may be 129,800 yuan. If it is true, then Qin L DM-i will not have a version with a pure battery life of less than 100km.

BYD has now become a general trend, which can be said to dominate the sales list of various models. With the arrival of Qin L DM-i, BYD finally began to attack the B-class car market. But in my opinion, the wheelbase of 2790mm has not reached the entry standard of today’s B-class cars. After all, the wheelbase of today’s B-class cars is almost above 2800 mm. Therefore, Qin L DM-i may not be the B-class car in our traditional cognition, but it does not prevent it from having a small shock to the car models at this price, such as,, and so on.
